MEDIEVAL CASTLE & REGGIA QUISISANA IN CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA

Two historical places of our land: The Medieval Castle that today is one of the most beautiful location for weddings, parties and events along the Sorrento peninsula; and the Quisisana Royal Palace, the summer resort preferred by royalty, especially during the plague in Naples.

The territory of Sorrento includes Capo di Sorrento, where there the “Bagni della Regina Giovanna” and the remains of a Roman Villa, that for a long time were erroneously identified with those of the villa of Pollio Felice, a member of a wealthy family from Pozzuoli.

PIZZA’S HISTORY

In June 1889, to honor the Italian Queen Margherita of Savoy, the chef Raffaele Esposito prepared the “Pizza Margherita”, a pizza topped with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil to represent the colors of the Italian flag.

VILLA FONDI DE SANGRO

Built in 1840 in neo-classical style by the Prince of Fondi, Don Giovanni Andrea De Sangro, the villa is surrounded by a large park, full of olive trees, varius species of palms and numerous cacti.

REGATTA OF THE ANCIENT MARITIME REPUBLICS

The Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics is a competition on eight-oared galleons among the crews of the cities of Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice. The event is held in a different city each year (this year, in Amalfi), combining a fascinating historical and cultural message with a spectacular competition.
